Links News
Friday, 10th October 2025
Dear Links Families,
This week has been a busy and exciting one at school! 6S and Year 5 enjoyed their trip to the library where they explored a fantastic range of books and took part in Black History Month trail. Year 4 had a wonderful time at the Polka Theatre watching the show Dweeb-a–Mania.
This afternoon, we also had an unexpected fire alarm, and we were extremely impressed with how calmly and sensibly all the children followed the procedures — quickly, quietly, and safely. We are very proud of them all and encourage you to praise them for this at home.
We will be hosting our autumn term parents evening on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th November 2025. This will be in person at school, however there will be the option to have some online meetings too. Please keep an eye on your MCaS messages for booking information, which will be out in the next couple of weeks.
Spread the word!
Little Links Playgroup is every Tuesday morning 9am-10am, during term time. Parents/ carers and childminders are welcome to join us for a play and a coffee. This is a lovely opportunity to get to know Links as well as other parents in our community. Please post on social media and tell your friends and neighbours.

School Tours
This week, we held our first parent tour of the academic year. The parents touring the school were very impressed with the behaviour of our children and felt the school had a warm, friendly and inclusive vibe. Please spread the word about our upcoming tours.
Dates: 4th November 2025, 11th December 2025 & 8th January 2026.
Please note, all Open Mornings run from 9:15am to 10:15am

Dress in Red
Next Friday, October 17th is 'Show Racism the Red Card' Day. As a school we would like to take the opportunity to support this by wearing something red on Friday. You can make as much or as little of this as you wish - you can come completely dressed in red, you may wear a red top or bottoms as part of your outfit or you may choose to wear red socks or a hair accessory with your usual school uniform. Children may wear whatever they choose to school as long as one item of visible clothing is red.
Harvest Festival
Links Primary School will be taking part in a Food Bank collection in collaboration with the Wimbledon and Wandsworth Foodbanks, to celebrate Harvest Festival. Although the foodbank is based in Wimbledon, they have lots of collect points all over Merton.
Every day, people in the UK go hungry for many reasons but just a small box of food can make a big difference. Food Banks provide emergency food to people in crisis and their need is increasingly important during the winter period. If you, or a family you know would like more information on how to access this service, please contact the school on enquiries@links.merton.sch.uk. Think Pharmacy First
Most pharmacies in England are now providing the Pharmacy First service.
This free NHS service allows you or your child to get quick access to healthcare advice for the following seven conditions:
- Earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
- Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
- Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
- Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- Sore throats (aged 5 years and over)
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women (aged 16 to 64 years)
If you or your child has symptoms that suggest you may have one of these conditions, you can walk into a pharmacy and be offered a consultation with a pharmacist in a private consultation room.
The pharmacist will provide advice and, if clinically necessary, a prescription medicine to treat the condition (the normal NHS prescription charge rules apply to people aged 16 and over).
