Links News

Friday 15th March 2024

Dear Links Families,

Exciting things have been happening around school this week!  Walking around we have seen scientists, designers, engineers and mathematicians in action.  We have of course been celebrating STEM week. Yesterday the children in Reception were telling us all about the castles and ships they had been constructing.  Year 2 was experimenting with tin foil boats and seeing how many pennies they could hold before they sank and Year 4 have been designing and building some very impressive marble runs.  Today, Year 6 took part in the eggcellent egg drop challenge and Year 3 were making slime.  We would like to say thank you to Christine Budhan-Mills, builder and educator, who delivered a great assembly on smashing stereotypes.  We would also like to thank Lousie Rae, an interior designer, Harry Quarendon, a prototype engineer, and Misha Tamang, Design and Technology teacher, for all their contributions, advice and support with our STEM week.  Please keep an eye on the website as we will upload a presentation of all our exciting activities and experiences.

The Royal Albert Hall

Year 5 treated us and their parents to an amazing performance at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening.  We were proud to see our children performing as part of the ‘With One Voice Choir’ with other Merton schools.  They sang confidently and with enthusiasm and their teachers were extremely pleased with how they conducted themselves during rehearsals, backstage and during the performance.  Well done Year 5!

Year 1 Tooting Walk

Earlier this week, as part of their learning about the local area, Year 1 went on a walk around Tooting. They told me that they had a lovely time looking at all of the buildings with some of the highlights being the local church, the library and the market.

End of Term Arrangements

Just a reminder that school will be closing for the Easter Holidays on Thursday 28th March at 1:30pm. There will be no after school club on this day. Links Nursery will close on Wednesday 27th March at the usual time. School will reopen to all children on Monday 15th April 2024.

MUFTI Day and Easter Egg Tombola

Thursday, 28th March, will be a non-uniform day. Instead of a money donation, we are asking for donations of Easter eggs and Easter chocolates as the PTA will be holding an Easter Egg Tombola, after school on Thursday 28th March at 1:30pm.

More exciting events are happening, hosted by our fabulous PTA!  Keep an eye on your Parentmail.
