Links News
Friday 15th November, 2024
Dear Links Families,
It has been anti- bullying week this week at Links. We started the week wearing our odd socks, to highlight that it’s ok to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination. We have had lots of class based discussions and activities, talking about ‘what is bullying’ and the theme of respect.
Today at school, we held a pyjama day to raise money and awareness of Children in Need. It was wonderful to see so many hoodies, onesies and colourful pyjamas (in every colour you could think of). We were all very comfortable and it was great to see so many teachers wearing theirs too! We raised a fantastic £314.45. Thank you!
This week, our year 6 pupils laid a wreath for Remembrance Day, at Mitcham War Memorial on Lower Green West. We were so proud of their maturity and respect at this special event.
On Tuesday, year 4 visited Wimbledon Theatre for a Roots and Blues Jazz Ensemble, as part of their music lessons with Merton Music Foundation. The children (and parent helpers) had a wonderful time listening to music they do not usually listen to. Parents joined our nursery and reception children at lunch time on Wednesday for #Shareaschooldinnerday. The children took part in a knife and fork workshop, followed by a delicious lunch cooked by Caterlink.
Overall, it has been a busy week here and with only five weeks left of the autumn term, things will start to get busier. We will be sending a list of events happening in the next few weeks, in next week’s Links News.

Parents’ Evening Booking Guide
We must sincerely apologise for the short notice regarding this important event but with our move to a new system, set up has been a little delayed.
If you have any questions, please call the school office or email enquiries@links.merton.sch.uk.
Parent Workshop - Managing Emotions Using Zones of Regulation
Don’t forget on Friday 22nd November at 2pm we will be holding a workshop on Managing Emotions Using Zones of Regulation. This is a scheme we have been using in school to support children in identifying their emotions and being able to manage them. This workshop we also help you to do this at home. The workshop will be held in the bottom floor hall and everybody is welcome.
