Links News- 23rd June 2023

Dear Links families,

I hope you and your families are well. We’re getting close to the end of the school year now and there are exciting activities planned for the children over the next few weeks. Please keep an eye on parentmail to make sure your child doesn’t miss out on anything. As always I’m very grateful to all the staff who go the extra mile at this time of year to provide such experiences for your children. Thank you to you for supporting your children so well in their learning here at Links.

Eid al-Adha

We’re aware that many of our families will be celebrating Eid al-Adha next Wednesday. We hope you have a great day. Can we please just ask you to let us know that your child will be absent by using Studybugs in the usual way.

This summer, Year 6 will be performing their show ‘Dream On’ a musical take on Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer's Night Dream’. Parents are invited to watch on Thursday 13th July at 5pm.

Pupils in Reception, will be hosting a singing assembly for their parents on Friday 14th July, during the school day.

As with all of the performances above, a separate parentmail will go out next week, with key information and booking forms.

On Friday 30th June, children are invited to wear their own clothes to school, in exchange for a bottle, for the PTA’s Summer Social Tombola. Please bring in any bottle you like. Such as, soft drinks, shampoo, water, wine, beer or even handwash.

PTA Events

On Monday 26th June the PTA will be holding and Eid cake sale. Please send donations of cakes, biscuits and other sweet treats into school on the morning of the 26th of June, for the PTA to sell after school in the main playground.

All proceeds from this sale will go towards fundraising projects for the school.

Bags2Schools-  All of next week, we are collecting old clothes and shoes (in good condition) to raise money for the school. Please bring anything you would like to donate and leave it with one of the PTA team, at the school gates at drop off.  Bags2Schools will be collecting all donations on Friday morning.

Book Fair

All next week the book fair will be in the Bottom floor Hall, every day after school.

There are over 200 titles for you and your child to choose from, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone.

Hot Weather Reminder

As the warm weather looks set to continue, please make sure that your child has a hat with them when they come to school as well as a water bottle which can be refilled at school. We would also like to remind you to apply sunscreen, where appropriate, to your children before coming to school.

Industrial Action

I wrote to you earlier in the week to inform you that the National Education Union (NEU) have voted to take further strike action which is planned to take place on the following dates;

  •   Wednesday 5th July
  •   Friday 7th July

We want to give you as much notice as possible that your child’s class may be closed on these days. We recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates.

We are continuing to work closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible.
