Links News

Friday 28th March, 2025

Dear Links Families,

We had a jam packed assembly today to celebrate all the fabulous learning that has taken place this week for STEM week.  So many children wanted to share what they had been doing in class.  We saw spaghetti towers in year 3, marble runs from year 4, some intricate catapults in year 5 and some of the year 6 children spoke confidently about their egg drop challenge!  Amazingly only 2 of the eggs cracked!  Year 1 were also busy making cars and the year 2 children displayed some of the chairs they designed and made for the three bears to sit on together.  The children told us how much they enjoyed the challenges and how they had to work together collaboratively, problem solve and be resilient when things didn’t go quite to plan!

A big thank you to the PTA for organising the table-top sale on Sunday.  The weather remained dry so it was good to see the crowds looking for their bargains.  Not only did stallholders make a profit but the event raised £600 for the school!  Thank you to everyone who came along to support the event.

Finally, Eid Mubarak to all our families who may be marking the end of Ramadan with the special festival Eid-al-Fitr this week.

End of Term Arrangements

Just a reminder that school will be closing for the Easter Holidays on Friday 4th April at 2:00pm. There will be no after school club on this day. Links Nursery will close at the usual time on Thursday 3rd April.  School will reopen for all children on Tuesday 22nd April 2025.

MUFTI Day and Easter Egg Tombola

Don’t forget that next Friday 4th April, will be a non-uniform day. Instead of a money donation, we are asking for donations of Easter eggs and Easter chocolates, as the PTA will be holding an Easter Egg Tombola, after school on Friday 4th April at 2:00pm.

Message from Figges Marsh Friends Group

PARK PLAY  is an organisation working at various sites around Merton (and around the UK) to put on free weekly play in the park for kids.

https://park-play.com/  They provide training, equipment, and ongoing support to volunteers, and they have loads of games and activities to choose from each week, so there's no pressure on volunteers to come up with games!

We're looking to recruit at least eight volunteers in total so that volunteers would do just one session per month on average and always work alongside at least one other volunteer. If you would like to become one of the volunteers please contact: lauracollins@gmail.com;
