Links Primary School

Links News - 30th September 2022

Dear Links families,

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of September. The first few weeks of term have flown by!

Meet the Teacher

It’s been great to see so many of you at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ events over the past two weeks. If you weren’t able to make it, please use these links to access the information that was shared:

As always, if you have any questions, please speak to your child’s teacher.

Year 5

This Wednesday both Year 5 classes had an exciting afternoon.

As part of our partnership with Reed’s School in Cobham, 5KT took part in the launch car challenge, where they worked with members of the DT department to design, build and launch their own cars. Well done to Hibba, Brendan and Angel who were the winners and will go on to represent Links later in the year. 5D will be taking part in the challenge later this term.

While 5KT were away, 5D spent the afternoon making apple crumble with just some of the 60kg of apples that were harvested from the tree in the playground with Mrs. Toulson, our former nursery teacher. The children took part in the whole process, from peeling and chopping the apples, to weighing and mixing the crumble. I’m told that the end product was delicious!

Attendance

It is so important that the children are in school every day. Of course, there will be times when they are unwell and not able to come in but please do let us know that they won’t be in. You can do this by calling the school on 020 8769 4587 (press option 1) or email enquiries@links.merton.sch.uk. If you don’t let us know why your child isn’t in school, the absence has to be unauthorised.

Harvest

Yesterday, you were sent some information asking for donations for the food bank this harvest time. Thank you for all of the donations we have received so far. We will be passing these on to St. Paul’s Church next Wednesday.

All About Us

I’m Miss Potter and this is my first year of teaching at Links Primary School. I am currently working in Year 1 but I have previously worked in Reception at my previous school. This year, I am leading Art within the school and can't wait to see all of the wonderful Art we will produce. I am originally from Yorkshire and like spending my holidays back with my family and the dog (Atom!) in the countryside. In my spare time I like to travel, go to the gym and especially bake!

Merton Sports Mark

I am very pleased to announce that we have again been awarded the Platinum Sports Mark by Merton School Sports Partnership, the highest level possible. Thank you and well done to Mr Grace for his leadership of PE and sport.

Values Awards

Last week, I was very pleased to give a Values Award to Alina in 6M. This week, Umar in 1EJ was awarded a certificate. Well done to you both!
