Links News
Friday 3rd October 2025
Dear Links Families,
Black History Month Has Begun!

Today we kicked off our Black History Month celebrations with a fantastic Live Assembly hosted by Picture News, joined by schools from all over the country. It was a brilliant way to start the month, and we were lucky enough to hear from a very special guest—Swarzy from Radio 1!
Swarzy shared her personal journey growing up and spoke passionately about the people who inspired her, including civil rights icon Rosa Parks, wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, and the legendary Williams sisters from the world of tennis. She posed a powerful question to all of us:
Who is on your team? She reminded us how important it is to have people—parents, friends, teachers—who stand by us, especially during tough times.
Over the past few years, we’ve explored Black History Month through art, music, local history, and English. This year, we’re taking a new direction and celebrating through PE and Sport! We’re excited to shine a light on Black athletes, sporting achievements, and the power of teamwork and resilience.
Keep an eye out for updates—we can’t wait to share all the amazing things we’ll be doing throughout the month!
Links PTA
A big shout out to our wonderful PTA who gave up their time on a rainy Sunday afternoon to plant some flowers from Wimbledon tennis and for planting some bulbs around the school playground.
We would also like to say thank you to Westland and Thompson and Morgan for kindly donating the compost and bulbs. Unfortunately you will have to wait until Spring to see the beautiful blooms and fabulous display of bulbs.
