Links News
Friday 7th March, 2025
Dear Links Families,
Yesterday and throughout the week, we had a lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. The children took part in a variety of book-themed activities including visits and workshops by authors and illustrators, book-themed activities, trips to Wimbledon Library to see the Gruffalo, competitions and stories told by other teachers.
It was lovely to see such imagination as the children came to school dressed as their favourite book characters. Thank you for all the effort made. We celebrated together as a whole school and really enjoyed seeing everyones outfits and guessing the book character. Our thanks also go to Mrs Plackett and Mrs Trounce for organising such a great week, we really hope this week helps to instil a love of reading.
Competition Winners
This year, we had two competitions running for World Book Day. The first one was for reading in unusual places and the second competition was for writing a poem about a book character. Congratulations to all the winners, they received their prizes in assembly yesterday.

Book Fair
We have been delighted by the crowds at the book fair this week. In total, we have received over £400 in commission. Every book purchased means the school gets money to spend on books too and today our lucky teachers got to go and choose lots of lovely books for their class bookshelves.
Thank you to everyone who has bought a book this week but also a big thank you to the children in year 6 who have done a great job promoting the book fair and the author visits.
School Lunches Next Week
On Monday 10th & Tuesday 11th March, our kitchen will be having essential maintenance work done. This means that our menu will change on those days. Our wonderful kitchen staff will be preparing a tasty school packed lunch for all the children who usually have a school lunch. Our usual menu will be back in place from Wednesday 12th March. Please contact the school office if you have any questions.
