Links News

Friday 8th November, 2024

Dear Links Families,

We hope you and your family had a good half term break. It has been lovely to see the children return to school with a positive attitude, ready to learn and excited for their new topics.  This week, some of our year 5 and 6 children have been taking part in the on road cycle training with two instructors from Merton.  They have been working hard to practise their cycling skills to keep them safe whilst cycling on the roads. We also had something exciting happen in Year 1 this week, the children found a mysterious egg in school and have been finding clues to find out what time of egg it is.  We are sure their writing will reveal the creature inside the egg, next week.

It will surely be another busy half term as we lead up to Christmas with all the exciting events that this brings. Please keep an eye on Links News over the next few weeks for details of all our Christmas events.

Children In Need

On Friday 15th November we will be fundraising for the charity Children in Need. Children across the UK are facing greater challenges than ever, with mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression rising, high levels of poverty leading to inequality & lack of opportunity. Many children are simply carrying a load that’s too heavy to manage alone, so this year, we are asking you to help make life lighter for children.  We want to support this amazing charity by holding a pyjama day.  Children can come to school dressed in their pyjamas and make a small donation.  We will be shaking  buckets on the gate in the morning but donations can also be given to the class teachers.

Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is Anti - bullying week, the theme for this year is - Choose Respect which fits in nicely with one of our school rules. The children will be doing lots of work about this in class and during assembly time.

Odd Socks Day

On Tuesday 12th November, we would like the children to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

Message from the PTA

At the end of last term, the PTA held a competition to help design this years Aspire Estate Agent Boards. Congratulations to Maja in Year 6, for creating the winning design. She will receive 10 tokens to spend at the Christmas Fair. We would also like to congratulate Lithiya and Samreen, who are the winners of our poster competition and Harriet for our digital poster. They will each receive 5 tokens to spend at the fair.

Links Christmas Fair is on Friday 6th December, 3.30pm -5:00pm

Due to the previous success of the advertising boards, Aspire Estate Agents have kindly agreed to sponsor our upcoming Christmas Fair.

For every home that agrees to have a board advertising the Christmas Fair outside their property the PTA will receive £10 - such an easy way to raise money for the school!

The company will put the boards up around 2 weeks before the Christmas Fair and take them back down the week after the event.
