Links News- 9th December 2022

Dear Links families,

It’s been another really busy week.

Christmas Performances

A huge well done to all of the children in Early Years, Year 1 and Year 5 for their excellent performances this week. It was so nice to have people back in the building for our Christmas performances for the first time since 2019. Of course, none of the performances would have been possible without all of the staff who directed, stage managed and created the props- so a big thank you to all of them. At the end of each performance, we held a collection to raise money to buy some new resources for the children. Thanks to your generosity, we raised a total of £327.60.

Christmas Parties & Christmas Jumper Day

The children will be having Christmas parties in their classrooms on the afternoon of Monday 12th December. To get everyone in the festive mood, we will be having our Christmas Jumper Day on this day. If you are in a position to do so, we would be really grateful for any donations to Save the Children on this day.

Christmas Lunch

One of the highlights of the run up to Christmas is the school Christmas Lunch. This will be taking place on Tuesday 13th December. If your child would like to have a Christmas lunch, this can now be ordered on ParentPay.

Year 2 Trip

Earlier this week, Year 2 went on a trip to Wimbledon Library to see a Christmas performance by Magical Quests. They had a wonderful time watching the elves on a magical, mystical quest to rescue Santa.

End of Term

Don’t forget, the last day for Nursery will be next Thursday, 15th December. The rest of the school will finish at 1:30pm on Friday 16th December. There will be no after school club on this day.

Inset

There will be an inset day on Tuesday 3rd January, so the school will be closed to the children. The children should return to school on Wednesday 4th January. Children starting in Nursery have received their individual start dates.

Attendance

It is really important that children are in school every day. The Department for Education’s expectation is that children’s attendance is at least 95%. As of today, the school’s attendance is 92%. From January, we will be bringing back our weekly attendance award; the class with the top attendance each week will have the privilege of looking after the attendance cup for the week.

Earlier this week, I sent a reminder that I am unable to authorise any leave of absence, except in exceptional circumstances if evidence is provided. Unauthorised leaves of absence currently make up a large proportion of our absences.

Extended Services

We have now opened bookings for breakfast and after school club for next half term. If you would like to book a place, please complete this form. Please note that all booked places will be charged for.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!
