Links News
Friday 14th February, 2025
Dear Links Families,
It’s been a busy end to the half term. On Tuesday, the Heads of School from Cranmer and Haslemere along with our Merton Education Partner, Ewan Morrison, came to see the school. They visited all classes and dropped in on Maths lessons and a variety of other lessons from across the school. The feedback from this visit was extremely positive, they commented on the good behaviour of the children, their level of engagement and the impact the carefully planned lessons have on the children’s learning. They also recognised the fantastic team of staff we have here at Links. We were very proud of our staff and our children.
On Wednesday, we were invaded by Romans! They came dressed in fine robes and armour and quickly set about making shields for themselves. They also made dough to make cheese and honey pizza, which was a change from their usual diet of flamingo tongues and mice dipped in honey! At the end of the day, the Heads of School got to see how their army fought in a battle. They fought in a tight formation and protected themselves behind their long shields. It was a super day and we saw lots of learning take place, check out Links in Action (below) for some super photos!
Our Governors
We are very lucky to have a dedicated group of volunteer governors who support the school at a strategic level. They work hard behind the scenes helping us to keep up and improve all aspects of the school for the benefit of our children. Additionally, this term several of the governors have supported the school with various community projects. We would like to say a big thank you to Sabrina Winters for initially working with Liz from Canons House to get the three schools together (Links, Beecholme and Gorringe) for the Tri-School Art Exhibition. She also came to help with the installation of the exhibition and was a great help with trimming paper and backing multiple boards. Emily Fleuriot has also been a super ambassador for the Figges Marsh Park Run. As the park run director, she has helped run an assembly to promote the event and then come into school to run mini events before the headliner event last Sunday. We are very lucky to have such a committed team!
On Thursday 27th February, the Governors will be in school talking to the children and staff and seeing the learning that is taking place. They will also be at the school gates in the morning and at the end of the day so please do come and say hello to them and have a chat.
