Links News
Friday 20th June, 2025
Dear Links Families,
It has been a very hot week this week at Links. As you may be aware, the government has issued an amber alert health warning, as the warm weather is expected to continue this weekend.
Please keep your families safe by following the advice of the UKHSA.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/first-yellow-heat-health-alert-of-2025-issued-for-4-regions
Although the weather is expected to cool down next week, it will still reach temperatures of up to 27°c. With this in mind, please ensure the following:
- Your child comes to school with a full water bottle.
- They can wear a sun hat (don’t forget to write their name in it).
- You can apply suncream on them before they come to school.
- Children will continue to wear their school uniform with the exception that children in key stage 2 do not need to wear their ties for this week.
- Please do not overlay your child with vests or T-shirts under shirts.
Multicultural Art Week
This week at Links, we have celebrated art week with a multicultural twist. Every year group focused on a country. Our early years pupils learned about Brazil, year one studied India and year two immersed themselves in the Greek culture. Year three had a South African experience while year four learned about all things Italian, Year five have been learning about America and year 6 were learning about Poland. Throughout the week all classes took part in a PE lesson, which was based on a style dance from that country, an art workshop where the children designed their own flags and a cooking activity, where their children put their culinary skills to the test and created a dish from that country. The smells of pizza, Queenie cupcakes, cheese bread, Polish salad, Greek biscuits and mango lassi have been wafting around the corridors making our mouths water.
We also want to say a huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came in to support and enhance our Multicultural Arts week by sharing their skills and experiences with us. We had parents come in to talk at our assembly, help out with our cooking classes or to tell us about their culture and teach us a few words in their language.
A big shout-out must also go to Milena, Yan and Pawel’s mum who led abstract art workshops in every year group this week. We really appreciate the time and effort she put into delivering these workshops. The children really enjoyed them and produced some fabulous work.
