Links News
Friday 24th January, 2025
Dear Links Families,
This week, the children have been busy bees and there has been lots of learning around the school. Year 5, used their magnifying glasses to investigate parts of a flower. Year 2 have been making a church, ready to display their stain glass windows. Today, the children in Nursery and Reception took part in a very exciting dance lesson in PE, it was so much fun that we had to take part!
Yesterday, Steve and Emily from Junior parkrun came into school during assembly time to tell us all about the 2k parkrun that takes place every Sunday on Figges Marsh. We found out that the parkrun is for children aged 4 to 14 and is for the whole community to come together to walk, jog, run and volunteer. On Sunday 9th February we will be holding our very own headliner event at Figges Marsh and it would be lovely to see lots of our Links children there. NSPCC Number Day
Just a reminder that on Friday 7th February 2025, we will be supporting the NSPCC by taking part in Number Day.
We will be having a fun day of maths activities as well as taking part in Dress up for Digits. Pupils can wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). Or, they can get even more creative by dressing in a maths or numbers theme. If you do not have anything number themed at home, do not worry, you can wear anything patterned or with shapes on it. To help raise money for the NSPCC we are asking for donations. If you can, please send in a donation to support the NSPCC’s work. This can be given to the class teacher on the day.
Calling all Artists!
We have registered for the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Show 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for students aged 4-18 to exhibit their work on site or online at the Royal Academy of Arts. Work can be submitted between now and the 5th March 2025 and is easy to do. You just need to upload a picture of your work or sculpture and then add a brief description of the work. Please see the poster below for more information.
