Links Primary School

Links News- Friday 28th April 2023

Dear Links families,

It’s been another busy week at Links and the children and staff have been working hard on their learning this week. Thank you for the way in which you continue to support your children. In last week’s Links News I asked you to support your children in helping them wear the correct school uniform. Please continue to support your children and the school in this way.

Reminders

Please be aware that this coming Monday (May 1st) is a Bank Holiday and therefore the school will be closed.

You will also be aware that the school will also be closed to children on Tuesday (May 2nd) due to industrial action by the National Education Union (NEU).

We look forward to seeing all our children back in school on Wednesday 3rd May at the normal time.

Please also be aware that Monday 8th May is also a bank holiday to mark the King’s Coronation.

Beat the Street

Exciting news, Links won 2nd place on the East Mitcham Schools Total Points Leaderboard and 2nd place on the East Mitcham Schools Average Points leaderboard! We have won £100 worth of Decathlon vouchers, to spend on sporting equipment.

Well done to all those children who beeped their cards!

Sports Day

This year sports day will be on Thursday 15th June at Tooting Bec Athletics Track. Years 1, 2 and 3 will have their sports day in the morning and years 4,5 &6 in the afternoon.  Reception and nursery will hold their own mini sports day at school. We are inviting parents to come and watch your child participate at Tooting Track. More information will be sent nearer to the event.

The Coronation

We will be marking the coronation of King Charles lll on Friday 5th May. This will be a MUFTI day, all children are invited to wear anything red, white and blue. Our school meal that day will be a ‘buffet in a box’, picnic lunch out in the playground. A separate Parentmail will be sent from the school office regarding this.

This week we launched a Coronation Hacking Challenge, to create a crown from reusable materials. As a nod to King Charles who promoted sustainability. Please wear your crowns to school on Friday 5th May, for judging. There will be a prize for each winner, from across the four key stages.

Educational Visit Parent Volunteers

We would like to thank all the parents who volunteer their time to supporting our classes by going on school trips. However, sometimes we don’t get enough volunteers and this prevents school trips from happening. If you are available and don’t mind helping any year group, when they need it. Please fill in the google form https://forms.gle/owSJcvQCmicyUUJE6 Thank you.

Sporting Competitions

Last Friday several children from Key Stage 2 attended a tennis competition and on Monday a group of Year 3 and 4 children attended a dodgeball competition. Where they received the REFSPECT award! Well done to all those children who participated.
