Links Primary School

Links News- Friday 5th May 2023

Dear Links families,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to another long bank holiday weekend. It is fair to say that the last few weeks have been rather disjointed for various reasons but despite this the children have continued to work really hard and once again I thank you for supporting your children in their learning. One thing that is very clear to me in my first few days here is how committed the staff here are and how hard they work to support your children.

Coronation Celebrations

Thank you for supporting your children in celebrating the King’s Coronation today at Links. It was great to see the children dressed up so colourfully, enjoying their Coronation picnic lunch (indoors sadly!) and taking part in the hacking challenge. The work that many children had put into creating their crowns was amazing.

It was a tricky job to judge the hacking challenge but after some serious deliberating four winners were chosen. Well done to  Samreen (RP), Beatrix (1EJ), Ben (3P) and Li Jia Yi (6M). We would also like to award Leo (4M) for his effort and resilience.

I hope that you have a lovely weekend and I am sure the children will be interested to see some of the events over the weekend on TV.

Bank Holiday Monday

Just a reminder that Monday (8th May) is another bank holiday to mark the King’s Coronation.

PTA Disco

I am sure that the children who came along to the disco yesterday had a great time. I would like to thank the members of the PTA and staff members for organising and supporting this event.

The PTA will be holding another disco for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 on Thursday 25th May 5:00pm-6:15pm. Don’t forget to book your tickets via ParentPay.

Year 6 SATs

Year 6 SATs will be taking place next week from Tuesday through until Friday. All Year 6 children across the country will be sitting the tests at the same time. I am sure you will join me in wishing all our Year 6 children well next week.

Sports Day - A reminder

This year sports day will be on Thursday 15th June at Tooting Bec Athletics Track. Years 1, 2 and 3 will have their sports day in the morning and years 4,5 &6 in the afternoon.  Reception and nursery will hold their own mini sports day at school. We are inviting parents to come and watch your child participate at Tooting Track. More information will be sent nearer to the event.

Educational Visit Parent Volunteers

This week the children in Reception visited Wimbledon Library, where they watched a very amusing show, which included our new King. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance and several members of the public commented on the behaviour of the children. Well done Reception we are very proud of you!

Just a reminder, if you are available and don’t mind helping any year group, when they need it. Please fill in the google form https://forms.gle/owSJcvQCmicyUUJE6 Thank you.
