Links News- 16th September 2022

Dear Links families,

I hope you have all had a lovely week. As always, things never stand still at Links and it’s been a busy one!

Year 6

This week, some of our Year 6 children have been on their final Links residential to PGL in Liddington. They’ve had a great week taking part in all of the activities, including zip wire, abseiling and giant swing. I went to visit them yesterday; they were all having a great time and I had an abseiling race with Miss Paha! Thank you to Sylvester, Mr Grace and Miss Paha for accompanying the children. This is Sylvester’s last residential before he retires next week and I just wanted to say a huge thank you to him on behalf of all of the children he’s taken away on school journeys over the last eighteen years at Links.

The children who remained in school have had a great time with Miss Maxwell. They’ve been learning different techniques for painting and they made their own kites. Thankfully the weather was good yesterday so they went to Figges Marsh to test them out.

Punctuality

Nearly all of the children are getting to school on time. It is so important that the children arrive on time as learning starts the moment they walk through the classroom door. The gates close for Reception to Year 6 at 8:50am; if they arrive after this time, they will be marked late in the register.

Values Awards

This half term, our focus value is ‘Responsibility’ and we have talked about different ways that we can be responsible. In assembly today I was really pleased to be able to give Values Awards to Luke and Emilia-Grace in Year 4. Well done!

School Office

Unless you are collecting your child for an appointment, please try to keep visits to the school office to its opening hours, which are 8:30-9:30am and 2:30-4:00pm.

Extended Services

If you would like to book a place for breakfast or after school club, please use this form. Don’t forget that all booked places will be charged for.

Meet the Teacher

We are looking forward to welcoming you to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings from next week. These will give you some important information about the year ahead and will give you a chance to get to know the teachers and parents in your child’s year group. The meetings will all take place at 9am on the following dates:

  • Year 2- Wednesday 21st September
  • Year 1- Thursday 22nd September (please note the change of date)
  • Year 3- Friday 23rd September
  • Year 4- Monday 26th September
  • Year 5- Friday 30th September
  • Year 6- Wednesday 27th September

The Queen’s State Funeral

As you will know, HM Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral will take place on Monday 19th September. It has been announced that this will be a bank holiday so the school will be closed on this day.

We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 20th September.

Quincy

Today was Quincy’s last day in school as he will be going on his holidays before he moves to Ireland. He said goodbye to all of the children in assembly today. I will miss his cuddles and I know that Otto will miss chasing him around my office!

Have a lovely weekend.
